For travellers who want more than the classic one-day 4x4 + overnight

Many visitors choose a classic day tour by jeep and then spend the night in the desert - and it is a wonderful way to experience Wadi Rum. But some travellers want a faster rhythm and a bigger sense of adventure in the same timeframe. That’s why we created this 24-hour itinerary: it keeps everything people love about a Wadi Rum overnight (sunset, dinner, night sky, and sunrise), and adds a serious highlight in the morning—the scramble to Burdah Rock Arch, one of the most impressive natural rock bridges in Wadi Rum.

This is an ideal choice if you are short on time, travelling as a couple or small group, and want a desert experience that feels active, varied, and complete: hiking/scrambling, driving, walking short sections at the famous sites, an atmospheric night in the desert, and a traditional camel journey to finish.

If canyons are your favourite part of Wadi Rum, you might also like our Canyons of Wadi Rum tour. If a summit hike is more your style, take a look at our hike to Jordan’s highest peak.

  • Sunrise Short drive to a good sunrise spot for photography
  • Morning Breakfast at camp
  • Morning Camel ride back to Wadi Rum Village (approx. 2 hours)

Note: We keep the day efficient, but never unsafe. Your guide will adjust pacing, rest stops, and route choices to your group and the conditions.

Burdah Rock Arch Scramble (Approx. 3 hours)

After leaving the village, we travel by 4x4 to the base of Jabal Burdah. From here, the experience becomes active and hands-on. The route to Burdah Rock Arch is not a simple walking trail - it involves scrambling over rock, using your hands for balance, and following your guide’s line through the mountain.

Why Burdah? Burdah Rock Arch is one of the highest and most impressive natural arches in Wadi Rum. Reaching it is an adventure in itself, and the viewpoint creates a powerful “I can’t believe we did that” moment early in the tour—before you continue into the desert for the classic sites.

What to expect: steady climbing, short pauses, photo moments, and a careful descent. If you enjoy active days, this pairs perfectly with our other hiking options, such as Wadi Rum Hiking Tour or the hike to Jordan’s highest peak.

Classic Wadi Rum 4x4 Highlights + Sunset Viewpoint

After Burdah, we shift gears into the classic Wadi Rum experience: a 4x4 tour through the Protected Area visiting the famous sites that make Wadi Rum unforgettable. You will have plenty of time to step out of the vehicle, explore short sections on foot, take photos, and enjoy the changing colours of the desert as the day moves toward sunset.

Your guide will choose stops based on the conditions and your interests - rock formations, viewpoints, inscriptions, and beautiful open valleys. If you’d like a calmer version of this experience (with more time to slow down), see our main Wadi Rum Jeep Tour. If you want to focus specifically on narrow passages and shaded walks, consider Wadi Rum’s canyons by jeep.

The day finishes at a carefully chosen spot with a fantastic view of the sunset—one of the most memorable moments in Wadi Rum, when the sandstone turns deep red and the desert becomes quiet again.

Evening & Overnight in the Desert

After sunset, we head to our camp deeper in the desert for dinner and your overnight stay. The atmosphere is simple, authentic, and focused on the desert itself - silence, the fire, and the night sky.

Option 1: Sleep at our desert camp (included)

This tour includes an overnight stay in a standard tent at our camp. It’s a comfortable base for your evening meal and a good rest before the early sunrise.

Option 2: Sleep under the stars (+15 JOD per person)

If you want the most direct night-sky experience, you can choose to sleep under the stars in Wadi Rum. Your guide will help set up a comfortable sleeping area and share practical tips for warmth, comfort, and enjoying the night.

Upgrade option: If you prefer more comfort, you can upgrade to a tent with a larger bed and a private bathroom for +5 JOD per person.

Sunrise Tour: Bedouin Tea & Photography

We wake up early - before sunrise - when the desert is at its quietest. Your guide will prepare Bedouin tea and then take you to a good sunrise viewpoint. The light in Wadi Rum at this time is extraordinary: soft colours, long shadows, and clear shapes in the mountains. It’s a perfect moment for photography and for enjoying the desert without any noise.

After sunrise, we return to camp for breakfast, then continue with one last highlight: a traditional camel journey back to the village.

Camel Ride Back to Wadi Rum Village (Approx. 2 hours)

After breakfast, camels will be waiting at the camp to take you back to Wadi Rum Village. This journey is a beautiful contrast to the pace of the previous day: steady, calm, and deeply connected to Bedouin tradition. You arrive back in the village between 10:00 and 11:00, ready to continue your travels.

If you love the camel experience and want more time riding, take a look at our full Wadi Rum Camel Tour.

What to Bring (and Fitness Level)

Recommended packing list

  • Comfortable shoes with good grip (important for scrambling)
  • Small backpack with water, snacks (optional), and sun protection
  • Sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
  • Light layers: warm mornings/evenings can happen in any season

Fitness & safety

The Burdah section involves scrambling. You should be comfortable with uneven rock, using your hands for balance, and steady climbing for several hours (with breaks). Your guide will manage the pace and choose the safest line. If you’re looking for a gentler walking experience, consider our calmer canyons tour or a guided hiking tour tailored to your pace.

If you have vertigo, recent injuries, or concerns about scrambling, please contact us before booking so we can advise honestly and suggest the best alternative.
